Study and career in the Living Lab

Interdisciplinary, international, always in a team – right from the start

In the Living Lab, research takes place at a large number of university institutes and research facilities. Our research partners are the major national research institutions, international universities and numerous industrial partners who enable us to test and validate research and knowledge in practice.

In the Living Lab, everyone gets a direct insight into the diverse areas of offshore wind energy research. Whether as a student assistant or post-doctoral researcher, the real-world laboratory offers the ideal environment to make your own contribution to the success story of wind energy.

Wind and wind energy as a subject of study and research

Do you want to gain knowledge during your studies but still stay connected to practice?

With us, you can actively work on projects and contribute your own ideas. Contact with our partners from industry and research is a matter of course, as is participation in conferences, symposia and project meetings.

You will use the diverse research infrastructure of the Reallabor partners for your projects: our laboratories, computing power and test benches. You will be closely involved in our research topics right from the start. The collaboration between the university and industry partners will provide you with insights and prospects for your future career path.

And you can always look forward to the good feeling of working on one of the most important issues of our time.

Theses (Bachelor/Master)

Do you have a topic for a Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis that fits in well with the real-world laboratory? Talk to one of the scientists involved if you would like to start your scientific work in wind energy research with us. Intensive supervision and regular exchange with colleagues and other students are just as much a part of our work as cooperation with international partners in research and industry. Regardless of whether the path afterwards leads to science or industry: A thesis on a topic related to offshore wind energy research gives you the opportunity to make your contribution to one of the major issues of the future.

Promotion

Have you found your research topic and want to delve deeper into the subject as part of a doctorate? A number of doctoral positions are advertised in the Reallabor. With their diverse research focuses and research facilities, they offer a perfect environment for the start of a scientific career. During your doctorate at the Reallabor, you will be in close contact with national and international partners in research and industry. Personal, scientific and teaching skills are promoted through individual coaching and selected teaching tasks. In addition, you can present your scientific results at international meetings and conferences and build up your own network.

Research assistant (PostDoc)

The real laboratory also offers an exciting working and research environment after the doctorate. In a series of practice-oriented projects, issues relating to wind energy can be explored in depth, validated and applied. In our laboratories, test centers and research facilities, scientific work is coordinated and the foundations for our successful projects are laid. The supervision of doctoral students and theses and collaboration in the development and application process for new projects are also part of the profile of the scientific staff in the Living Lab.
