Reallabor spokesperson Prof. Torsten Schlurmann presents the Reallabor at the BWO panel on the offshore future
In May 2025, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Torsten Schlurmann, member of the ForWind Board of Directors and spokesperson for the 70 GW Offshore Wind real-world laboratory, took part in the panel discussion “Innovations and perspectives for the environmentally friendly expansion of offshore wind energy” as part of the BWO event Future Offshore 2025.
In his speech, Prof. Schlurmann not only highlighted the research activities of the Ludwig-Franzius-Institute for Hydraulic, Estuarine and Coastal Engineering and the Coastal Research Center within ForWind – he also took the opportunity to present the interdisciplinary Living Lab 70 GW Offshore Wind. This was launched in October 2024 as part of the TEN.efzn research initiative, coordinated by the Energy Research Center of Lower Saxony (EFZN).
The aim of the living lab is to develop scientifically sound and practical solutions for the successful and sustainable expansion of offshore wind energy in the German Bight – while at the same time taking ecological, social and economic interests into account.
The discussion provided a valuable platform for presenting the living lab to a wider specialist audience and emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary research for the success of the energy transition in the maritime region.
